Rituals The term Afro
Cuban refers to the descendants of African slaves in Cuba, and
to cultural elements in Cuba thought to emanate from this
community.
This term is highly complex and
in many cases confusing. The reasoning behind this is because it
refers to a large (often majority) segment of Cuban society and
culture, and could thus be called simply 'Cuban'. Apart from the
obvious, Afro Cubano also refers back to their religion, music,
language, arts and overall culture.
Afro Cubano Rituals are rituals
that Afro Cubano's use to communicate with the spirit realm.
Practices such as these have often been called 'voodoo'
especially in the southern states of America.
