Telepathy
Telepathy is the transmission of messages from one person to another without the use of the physical senses. It is the ability to communicate through means other from verbal and written communication. In most cases, telepathy is the ability to transfer energy, whether mental, physical or emotional or a combination of all three from one person to another. The ability to communicate through telepathy is believed to be an instinctual trait present in all creatures. It is believed that telepathy is used by animals as a survival tool. It is also a common subject in fiction and non-fiction.
Telepathy is considered a form of ESP (extrasensory perception) in parapsychology and is categorized as similar to precognition and clairvoyance. There are three types of telepathy. These are physical, emotional, and mental telepathy. Others categorize telepathy as latent telepathy, precognitive, emotive and superconscious telepathy. Latent telepathy is the transfer of information with a considerable time lag between the transmission and the receipt of the message. Precognitive therapy deals with transfer of information about the future, while emotive therapy deals with the transfer of information through altered senses. Superconscious telepathy on the other hand deals with tapping of the collective consciousness of the human species.
Telepathy in history can be seen in accounts in the Bible, where some were believed to have the ability to see the future. Studies on telepathy are believed to have started with the birth of the Society for Psychical Research, which published a book on its studies titled Phantasms of the Living in 1886.
