Tarot
Tarot, also called "tarocchi" or "tarock," is a form of divination art that makes use of a special deck of cards to be able to acquire insights on the present. One important thing to note about tarot is that it is basically concerned with the present. Whereas tarot readings can illuminate minds and prompt for action on the insights that tarot readings offer, tarot cards do not tell about what lies in the future. Contrary to popular belief, Tarot is not a system of fortune telling. Some people argue that it is a form of meditation.
Tarot reading helps people better understand what’s going on in the present, thus, giving them opportunities to control the situation and make necessary changes in their lives. By making use of insights acquired through tarot readings, one can take necessary actions regarding his or her relationships, success opportunities, and life in general.
The tarot card deck dates back to the 15th century in Italy, France, and Spain. Thus, Tarot cards that tarot readers use today are already over half a century of age.
Whereas historians were able to trace back the beginnings of the tarot cards, the origin of the symbolisms embedded in each card remain a mystery. Some historians believe that some of the symbols in tarot cards are from ancient Indian, Chinese, and Egyptian civilizations, though it’s hard to pinpoint how the whole deck was completed and where the symbolisms came from. These symbolisms are found to have archetypal roots that date back 2000 years, with tarot being a depository of ancient history and wisdom.
