Throughout history, psychic powers and paranormal events never failed to kindle controversies. This can be attributed to the fact that despite the charge that psychic ability cannot be proven scientifically, it is still patronized by many. Many people even explored various means just to develop psychic abilities. There are people who joined workshops and seminars on paranormal studies. Some people even enrolled in actual and online schools dedicated to developing one's psychic powers. Some claimed that psychic detectives are responsible for solving various crimes in the US.

Because of the appeal of psychic powers to various people, there are numerous researches made on this topic. In the 1920s, there was an attempt to affiliate parapsychology to science. However, this attempt succeeded but was only short-lived. Despite this, there are still various researches made on the topics of paranormal events and psychic powers.

Criticism was also inevitable. There are various groups that viewed psychic reading as fraud. The cynicism towards psychic reading is probably based on the fact that psychic reading cannot be proven scientifically and any events that match the result of the psychic reading can be attributed to mere coincidence.

However, despite the cynicism faced by those who believed in paranormal and psychic abilities such as psychic reading, these people still hold fast to their belief in the paranormal. They still continue to use the knowledge of paranormal and psychic powers to guide them in making decisions in various areas of their lives such as relationships, love life, and business.
