Remote Viewing

Remote viewing is the term for the ability to see or perceive things, ideas, or instances without actually witnessing it or being present at the time of occurrence. Making use of extra-sensory perception, an individual who is gifted can gather and relay information about unseen events or objects. Clairvoyants and psychics are often the people who possess abilities to perceive objects in this manner.

History of remote viewing

The US Government famously funded a research on individuals who possessed paranormal abilities such as the capability to perceive matters through remote viewing in the middle part of the 20th century after reports that the Soviet Union and China were experimenting on it as well. The prospect of using such abilities for military surveillance and intelligence gathering was very attractive. The venture was coined Project Stargate and in the early 1990s, gained even more prominence when a review was launched. However, after much deliberation, years, and funds spent in this type of research, it proved to be all in vain. There was promise and the slightest possibility that such ability could exist but research and testing proved remote viewing and other abilities were of no use for military purposes.

Remote viewing in popular culture

After the infamous Stargate fiasco, remote viewing was seen as just another topic of interest, along with other paranormal occurrences. Scientific interest though, is still maintained in this topic and remote viewing along with other paranormal activities are considered part of pseudoscience for further studying.
