Precognitive Telepathy

Precognitive telepathy is one type of telepathy that involves transmission of information from the future mind of the sender. Precognitive telepaths are believed to know what a person will be thinking before they themselves think it. Precognitive telepathy involves direct knowledge of the future using extrasensory means and is one of the most frequently-reported of all forms of ESP (extrasensory perception). Precognitive telepathy is related to precognition, which can occur in hallucinations and flashing visions or images. It is also common for experiences of precognitive telepathy to occur months and even years before the actual event. Most telepathic experiences involve negative events, such as death and dying, illness, and accidents, mostly involving close friends or family members. This is often the reason why precognitive telepathy is viewed by some as a curse rather than a gift.

Precognitive telepathy can also occur in dreams, called precognitive dreams, and can be about the individuals’ personal life or about the world. Precognitive dreams that revolve around the world are called collective dreams.

Tests commonly conducted to determine the presence of telepathic ability include the Zener and Ganzfeld tests. The Zener test uses a deck of cards each containing one of five psychic symbols while the Ganzfeld test is a test that places the recipient in total sensory deprivation in order to receive the sender’s messages.

Precognitive telepathy faces the same kind of skepticism directed at the other types of telepathy, especially since no study or test has been shown to produce solid evidence for this ability through the years.
