Palm Reading Techniques

Palm readers usually begin their reading by looking at the shape of the hand. Although hand reading is another form of divination called chirognomy, this is usually practiced along with chiromancy. The shape of the hand may be interpreted different ways depending on the type of palm reading being done. In most cases, the reading of the hand is based on the temperaments or the elements. The shapes of the palms may be classified as earth, air, water or fire.

When using palmistry for cold reading, the next technique that the palm reader should do is to find and interpret the three most important lines on the palm. These are the heart line, the head line and the life line.

The heart line, which is located just below the fingers, represents the matters related to the person's heart, including emotional stability, depression, romantic outlook and the physical health of the heart.

The head line, which is below the index finger, and which usually starts at the same point with the life line, represents the person's intellectual capability, learning methods, communication techniques and intellectual inclinations.

The life line, which begins closely with the head line, and then travels going to the wrist, represents the person's physical health. Contrary to the popular belief, the length of this line has nothing to do with the length of the person's life. Instead, greater importance is given to the thickness and clarity of this line. Smaller lines crossing the life line would indicate important events in the person's life.
