History of Remote Viewing

The ability to perceive objects and circumstances of a subject in a different location has always baffled many throughout history. Many refer to this ability as intuition or guts, but it wasn't until the early 1970s has remote viewing been of any significance.

Remote viewing and Stanford research

Remote viewing, then a yet unnamed ability along with other psychic phenomena, were of interest to the scientific community even after World War II. Academic and scientific institutions even had departments dedicated to the study and analysis of such phenomena and have even established protocols for such. However, a student -- and himself a person possessing such abilities -- named Ingo Swann saw that such protocols were not producing conclusive results and quickly burned out the subjects. Himself a lab rat, he worked with the experts and came up with new approaches to researching and developing these abilities.

Remote Viewing and the US government

The US government was perturbed by the news that the Soviet Union and China were conducting research and development on a new military tool that involved only the minds of gifted people. Russia and China must have gotten some progress for the US to be threatened enough and make their own studies on psi research. The project was termed Stargate and made research and studies based on Ingo Swann's theories that remote viewing can be a learned skill. However, though project Stargate has been declassiffied and made public in the early '90s, not all of the results were purportedly released. Up to this day, Ingo Swan continues to make research on remote viewing and other extrasensory abilities.
