What Is Astrology?

Astrology is a group of beliefs that involve the study of heavenly bodies as they appear, move or affect one another at a certain time. This information is interpreted and related to the personality and events in a person's life. A person who studies or practices astrology is called an astrologist or astrologer.

The earliest record in the practice of astrology dates back as early as 3000 years BC. During the early practice of astrology, it was difficult to tell it apart from astronomy, which is the scientific study of the celestial bodies. It was only in the Renaissance period that astronomy starts to be distinguished from astrology. By the 18th century, astronomy became an independent scientific study of heavenly bodies and does not involve the divinatory practices of astrology.

People who practice astrology believe that the position and the movement of the heavenly bodies influence the life and events on earth. Some astrologers say that astrology is a form of art, a symbolic language or a form of divination, a symbolic language or a form of divination. Most commonly, astrology is described as a way to predict the past, the present and the future. To many scientists, however, astrology is just a superstition or a pseudoscience. Although the concept of astrology is rejected by science, surveys would indicate that about a third of the population still believes in astrology.

The most common forms of astrology are the Western astrology using the person's month of birth and the Chinese astrology, which is based on the year of birth.
